Welcome to the Glover Ranch blog. This is where we are going to share our homesteading journey. To start, it feels important to note that neither my husband nor I grew up on a farm. But what we did have were family members who knew their way around those fields. I used to visit and lend a hand on the farm every couple of summers just to get a taste of that rural life. And my hubby? He helped out his family whenever he could since he lived nearby to his farming family members. The funny thing is that, when it came to studying, I focused primarily on game art, and he was all about English. The homesteading lifestyle was definitely a whole new ball game for us. Honestly, the idea didn’t start to click until we got ourselves a border collie named Hap. That little furball made us pause and rethink what we really wanted in life. Both of us craved a self-sufficient, mind-and-body kind of satisfaction at the end of each day that we couldn’t get sitting at our desks from sunup to sundown. We didn’t just want to, we needed to escape that 9-5 grind. Once we realized that, we dove headfirst into the world of homesteading and permaculture farms, learning as much as we could from every possible resource. We scoured the Midwest for properties and were able to find a quaint three-bedroom house on 30 acres that fit right within our budget. It felt like destiny, so we bought it. It was our major step towards our ultimate goal: simple living.
Simple living is a lifestyle that’s catching on for a ton of different people. Personally, we are just so exhausted and unsatisfied with the hustle culture. All we really want is to slow down and savor life’s little moments. Sure, it’s not the easiest of paths and we’re going to make mistakes along the way, but that’s part of the learning process, right? Every day, my husband and I take comfort in the fact that we’re on our own path to the life we truly desire. One of the best parts about simple living is that you don’t necessarily need a farm to achieve it. Even an apartment can be a haven for simple living. We’ve realized that living simply isn’t about what you have; it’s about the mindset you bring to the table. We want to help provide you with resources and advice to help you take a step back from the chaos of modern life and live a simpler and more fulfilling one. So grab a warm beverage, get comfortable, and join us in simple living.
